The Tripoli-based Audit Bureau, Libya’s state-sector watchdog, said that it has referred one of its senior officials to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for suspicion of corruption with a leading state entity. The Audit Bureau said that it has removed the immunity the official has to enable the Public Prosecutor to question him.
The Audit Bureau said it would divulge further details after / if the accused is charged. However, this has not stopped Libyan traditional and social media from naming the accused, his accomplice and the state entity concerned nor the amount of money in the tens of millions of US dollars – allegedly involved.
