Faiez Serraj, head of the internationally recognized Tripoli-based Libyan government, discussed the instalment of an e-border control system at a meeting on Thursday.
The meeting included the Minister of the Interior and Transport, the head of the Intelligence Service, the head of the Passports Department, and the head of the Border Security Unit.
The meeting addressed the use of modern and advanced border port management techniques and adopted the border control system offered by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The meeting also agreed to set up a team to start the installation of the system.
At the meeting, Serraj stressed the need for coordination among all stakeholders to implement the state border strategy in accordance with the concept of integrated management.
Cooperation and training agreements with a number of friendly states were also reviewed during the meeting.
