Libya’s main land border crossing with Tunisia was closed today due to a cable being accidently cut during maintenance, Libya’s MoI reported (MoI).

London, 11 March 2019:

The Libyan side of its Tunisian Ras Jdair land crossing was closed today after a main cable connecting its security and passports systems was accidently cut during maintenance, the Central Security Unit of the Faiez Serraj Government‘s Ministry of Interior (MoI) reported.

It said that with the exception for urgent cases by ambulance and returning citizens, the crossing is closed until further notice.

The news is particularly pertinent in that a year or two ago the failure of the security and passports system would have been overlooked as local militias would have continued to process travellers manually.
