London, 29 May 2018:
Libya’s Supreme Judiciary Council has urged the country’s Attorney General to carefully and promptly investigate the recently-released Audit Bureau 2017 Annual Report.
The call came in a letter addressed in a statement directly from the Supreme Judicial Council released yesterday.
Furthermore, the Supreme Judicial Council called on the Audit Bureau to refer all those implicated in financial irregularities on to the judiciary.
The Attorney General was requested to immediately contact the Audit Bureau to request all documents, exhibits and evidence in support of these accusations.
The Supreme Judicial Council said that these irregularities were the main cause of the country’s economic and financial crises and the suffering of its citizens.
It said that the Audit Bureau report made some dangerous accusations which if correct are dangerous crimes subject to the penal code.
It concluded by stressing that it would not relent and would not fail in its duty to prosecute and punish every corrupt criminal who has harmed the country and citizens, regardless of their status and wherever their location.
