Tunis, 16 December 2017:
Presidency Council head Faiez Serraj is holding talks with Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia in Algiers tomorrow.
Algeria will emphasise its support for the UN action plan and encourage further dialogue and reconciliation, a statement by the Algerian prime minister’s office said. At this time, it is unclear whether Serraj will meet the President Abdelaziz Bouteflika although he is expected to have talks with Foreign Minister Abdulkader Messahel who has largely led Algerian efforts to solve the Libya crisis.
The PC head’s visit to Algiers is just the next destination in a whirlwind couple of weeks for Serraj. Yesterday, in Tunis, he had talks with Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi who reconfirmed his government’s support for the action plan by UN envoy Ghassan Salamé.
Serraj has also met with the leaders of Egypt, Germany and the US in their respective countries over the last couple of weeks. He was last in Algiers in July.
