Libyan singer Mohamed Hassan has passed away at the age of 73.
He died in a Tunisian clinic after a long illness and his body was flown back to Tripoli’s Metiga airport last night. Friends, relatives and a member of the culture authority received it. It was then taken to his hometown of Khoms for the funeral at the nearby Silin cemetery this afternoon.
The funeral was attended several artists, writers, writers and friends of the late artist.
A renowned singer, musician and composer, Hassan first appeared on the Libyan music scene in the late 1960s. His first song was released in 1970, only six months after Qaddafi came to power.
After the 2011 revolution, Hassan remained quiet until late 2014 when he released his latest single. The song was about forgetting animosities and rebuilding the country.
