An army officer who went to help two people injured in an earlier landmine explosion became the latest of some 470 claimed dead and wounded in Benghazi’s explosives-strewn battle zone.
A Libyan National Army (LNA) marine officer, names as Mohammed Al-Oreibi was killed instantly as he went to the assistance of two civilians wounded in another blast i,n the Suq Al-Hout district of Benghazi, once a cockpit of the LNA battle against militants.
The toll of dead and wounded from mines, improvised explosive devices and unexploded ordnance continues to rise in the city. Sabri residents have mounted a concerted effort to clean up their war-torn district. They are being supported by the city council and the water and electricity authorities; But they face the constant danger of undiscovered explosive charges.
Yesterday a civilian, names as Ahmad Bashir Al-Awhani died when he went back for the first time to his apartment in Misrata Street.
