Tunis, 13 October 2017:
One of the group of 24 militants captured following a shootout at a farm south of Misrata two days ago, has died of his wounds. Rabie Mohamed Musa Al-Shaghri was a member of the Ajdabiya Revolutionaries’ Shoura Council (ARSC). Other ARSC members were among those hiding at the farm in the Al-Sakt district along with fighters from the Benghazi Revolutionaries’ Shoura Council and the Benghazi Defence Brigades when they were caught by security forces from Misrata.
Al-Shaghri is said to have been a member of Ansar Al-Sharia which was active in the town in 2015 and 2016. Last year it pledged allegiance to the so-called Islamic State. After he fled Ajdabiya when it fell to the pro-Libyan National Army forces last year, he joined with the BDB.
