Tunis, 30 August 2017:
The Presidency Council (PC) has announced that the Eid Al-Adha holiday will last four days, starting tomorrow, Thursday 31 August, until Sunday 3 September. The first day of Eid falls on Friday 1 September.
The holiday will be taken by all state institutions, agencies and other public services, a statement read, but staff are expected to resume work on Monday. It noted, though, that there has to be continuing provision of security, healthcare and other humanitarian services. Those who have to work over the Eid Eid holiday because of this have the right to take time off in lieu at a later date, it said.
So far there has been no announcement about the Eid vacation from the Thinni government in Beida. It is likely, though, that most people in the east will take the same break, returning on Monday – or possibly Tuesday.
