Cairo, 30 August 2017:

The interim government in Beida says evidence has been found indicating that Tripoli activist and blogger Abdulmoez Banun who was abducted over three years ago, had subsequently been held in Hadba prison by Khaled Sharif.

The human rights assistant to the justice ministry in the interim government in Beida, Sahar Banun, who is believed to be related to the activist, has announced that following the attack on the prison by Haithem Tajouri in May, a file on Abdulmoez was found indicating that he had been there. She also revealed that before the prison was stormed by Tajouri, a number of prisoners were taken to Tarhouna where they are believed to be being held in private detention facilities by Sharif’s allies, the Kani brigade.

How she obtained the information from Tajouri or when was not disclosed. Also, it is not known if Banon is still alive or among those taken to Tarhouna. Certainly, he is not among those who were taken by Tahouri when he took the prison.

Sahar Banun, says she holds Sharif fully responsible for the safety of Abdulmoez.

He was seized near his Tripoli home in July 2014 allegedly because he campaigned against the presence of militias in the city.

Ironically, according to Hashm Bishr, he was seized on the orders of Haithem Tajouri who wanted to investigate him. At the time Tajouri was part of the Libya Dawn alliance that took control of Tripoli at the time.
