Tunis, 1 July 2017:
The acting interior minister in the Beida-based interim government, Brigadier Hussein Elabbar, has appointed a new police chief for Jufra. Colonel Mahmoud Mohamed Al-Dahabi will take over the massive central region’s security directorate with immediate effect.
The move is the latest in the eastern authorities’ drive to ensure complete control over central and southern Libya. A military governor for the central region, Brigadier Mohamed Al-Senussi Nasr, had already been appointed by Field Marshal Khalifa Hafter. He today met senior commanders in Jufra to assess the various requirements need to ensure peace and stability the area.
Just this past week, further south, the new military governor of southern region selected by Khalifa Hafter, Ramadan Al-Barasi, flew in to Tamenhint to take up his appointment.
