Benghazi, 12 June 2017:

The man accused by Benghazi Criminal Investigation Department of being the mastermind behind a spate of car thefts in the city was captured yesterday in his home town of Ajdabiya, it has been announced.

Police lieutenant Mahmud Elfakhri and a man with him were arrested by local security forces and taken to Benghazi for questioning.

The investigation department announced two days ago that it had tried to capture him on the road between Benghazi and Ajdabiya after three men accused of being involved in the car thefts had named him as the head of the operation. However, he had managed to escape after a shoot out.
