Tunis, 7 June 2017:
The acting interior minister in the Beida-based interim government, Brigadier Hussein Elabbar has banned the Presidency Council’s education minister, Otman Abdul Jalil, from entering the east of the country. He did so on the orders of interim prime minister Abdullah Al-Thinni
According to a Beida interior ministry spokesman, the order was issued after Abdul Jalil had allegedly announced his intention to visit eastern Libyan shortly. He was reportedly planning to go to Benghazi to investigate the needs of the university there.
No reason was given for the ban other then describing him as a minister in an unconstitutional government.
It also described him as “minister of higher education”. He is simply minister of eduction, the two ministries having been combined in the GNA.
