The head of the Presidency Council, Faiez Serraj has welcomed the invitation from Zintan to HoR president Ageela Saleh, Field Marshal Khalifa Hafter and himself to meet there and try and bring about national reconciliation.
In a statement today, he said it was imperative to bridge the current divide and move the political process forwards. Given the mountain of issues facing the country, everyone needed to unite and work together, he said, stating that he would join in any initiative aimed at bringing about peace.
Zintan’s two two members of the House of Representatives, Abdussalam Nassiyah and Omar Abu Kadr Karmil, issued the invitation on behalf of the town two days ago.
Serraj is so far the only person to respond to the invitation. Despite Zintan supposedly supporting the LNA and the HoR in the divide and the invitation being backed by Zintan municipal council and other leaders in the town, Ageela Saleh and Khalifa Hafter have maintained a resounding silence about it.
