The National Council for US-Libya Relations has confirmed the line-up for its conference to be held at the House of Representatives, Washington DC on 10 May.
The conference under the banner ‘‘Libya-US relations 2017: New vision, hope and opportunities’’ will comprise a glittering line-up of Libyan speakers, including, Presidency Council members Ali Gatrani and Omar Aswad, former Presidency Council member Musa Koni, Government of National Accord Foreign Minister designate Mohamed Siala, National Oil Corporation chairman Mustafa Sanalla, Central Bank of Libya Governor Saddek El-Kaber, UNSMIL head Martin Kobler, former Prime Ministers Mahmoud Jibril and Ali Zeidan and women activist Zahra Langhi.
Topics that will be covered on the various panels at the event are: Lessons learned and how to move forward; Security and stability in Libya and the region; Oil and Gas; Rebuilding the Libyan economy and investment opportunities; and Current vision and challenges of the Central Bank of Libya.
It will be recalled that the event had to be postponed from its original 16 February date due to the temporary travel ban o Libyans from entering the US imposed by the then new Trump administration.
The event is the first major conference to take place on Libya under the Trump presidency.
