Tripoli, 1 May 2017:
Sebha Medical Centre managers have reacted with fury to an attack by gunmen on their hospital. Several shots were fired at the building yesterday following the death of a man admitted with gunshot wounds.
A hospital spokesman has protested that the attack was unacceptable within a medical facility, not least because there were women and children in the department where the attackers struck.
This is by no means the first time that Sebha hospitals have been targeted. At the end of last year doctors and nurses in the town’s Medical Centre went on strike over physical violence from relatives of patients undergoing treatment. The protest coincided with a strike at Misrata Hospital after a cancer surgeon was kidnapped.
