Tunis, 12 February 2017:
The Hungarian ambassador, Bela Marton, has been in Tripoli for talks with Presidency Council (PC) deputy head Ahmed Maetig about the possibility of reopening his country’s embassy. According to the PC, Marton agreed to follow the Italian and Turkish lead and reopen the mission.
Hungary was the last European country to quit the Libyan capital, staying on long after others left in mid-2014. Like the others it is now based in Tunisia.
The talks also covered potential cooperation in a number of fields.
