London, 12 February 2017:

The Presidency Council/Government of National Accord’s (PC/GNA) Minister of Finance (MoF) designate, Osama Hamad, has announced that he will not be meeting with any foreign diplomats unless these meetings are arranged through the Foreign Ministry.

In a statement released by the MoF, a copy of which was sent directly to Libya Herald by its Media Department, Hamad said he refused to meet any diplomats unless they followed the usual channel and gave note of the meeting agenda in advance for his approval.

This emphasis by Minister-designate Hamad comes after his refusal, the MoF’s Media Department says, to meet the British, Italian German and South Korean ambassadors last week. They were refused a meeting for failing to send any note explaining the reasons for the requested meetings through the official Libyan state channels, the MoF explained.
