Tripoli, 14 November 2016:
After a year of closure because of the security situation in the area, Kufra Airport today was finally back in operation today welcoming its first flight from Labrak. There are to be two weekly Libyan Airlines flights between Labrak and Kufra. A weekly flight to Tripoi by the same carrier is also planned, starting on Sunday.
Flights were due to restart a fortnight ago but were postponed because of continuing concerns about security.
Meanwhile, acting minister of transport Milad Mohamed Matouk, has had talks with civil aviation officials in Tripoli to discuss restarting Sebha airport. It has been closed for over two years, again because of security concerns.
