Tripoli, 10 November 2016:
British ambassador Peter Millett was in Misrata today for talks with local officials.
He met mayor Mohamed Eshtewi along with other members of the municipal council as well a members of the council of notables. Talks concentrated on efforts on national reconciliation, in particular how to encourage the hardliners to agree the LPA. Asked at a press conference afterwards with Eshtewi if there might be sanctions on the hardliners, Millett said that at present efforts ere being made to encourage them to accept the agreement.
The ambassador himself tweeted that it had been a “good meeting” and that he had “recognised sacrifices made by families who lost loved ones fighting #Daesh #ISIL in #Sirte & by all martyrs across #Libya”.
