Benghazi, 22 September 2016:
A member of staff at Benghazi’s Benina airport was slightly injured this morning when two mortars fell outside the airport perimeter. He had just finished his shift and was on his way home.
Mortars have not landed for some time within the grounds of Benina, which is both a military airbase and Benghazi’s main civil airport, although militants continue to try and target it. Last week a house nearby was seriously damaged in a mortar attack, but fortunately no one was hurt as the building was unoccupied at the time.
The civil airport remains closed because of the security situation.
