Benghazi, 11 June 2016:
An explosion very early this morning in Benghazi’s Salmani district killed two local residents and injured . . .[restrict]six. The dead and wounded were taken to the Jalaa Hospital which named the two dead men as Bubakr Geroushi and his son, Abdurrahim.
Salmani has been subject to repeated shelling in recent weeks from militants holed up in nearby Sabri. In this case, however, it is reported that the blast was caused by a car bomb.
In a separate incident earlier on Friday, three people were killed in the Sidi Hussein district as a result of a mortar explosion. Two others were injured. The dead were named as Sufian Al-Oraibi (35), Rashid Samin (45), and Mohamed Iskandarani (30).
There have been fears that as the militants are slowly crushed and lose control of Benghazi they would go underground and create a fresh reign of terror using suicide attacks and car bombs. [/restrict]
