Tripoli, 24 June 2016:
Two men accused of involvement in a number of kidnappings and murders were summarily shot today by a local militia in the south Tripoli district of Gasr Ben Ghashir. Naji Al Faraj Said Al-Sharif, from Gasr Ben Ghashir itself, and Egyptian Mohamed Ibrahim are reported to have confessed to a number of kidnappings, killings and armed robberies, including the kidnapping on Tuesday and subsequent murder of Abdelmalik Al-Lamushi, the son of a local landowner, despite the payment of a ransom.
They were arrested following the earlier capture of one of the gang. At least one other member is reported to have escaped.
The same Gasr Ben Gashir militia allegedly executed another man accused of armed robbery and murder yesterday.
In both cases, it is said there were no legal proceedings.
