Tripoli, 5 April 2016:
The kidnapped Misratan journalist Mohammed Mhaisen was savaged by a dog locked into a cell . . .[restrict]with him, it was alleged today.
Pictures published on social media show legs that appear to have been mauled by an animal. However there is no full-length picture displaying the journalist with these injuries.
Mhaisen was seized on Sunday as he drove to a press conference called by prime minister-designate Faiez Serraj at the Bu Sitta naval base. Relatives said that members of Haithem Tajouri’s Tripoli Revolutionaries Brigade admitted that they had arrested him but insisted they had later let him go. Brigade members said that the journalist had then been detained by other militiamen belonging to Abdul Ghani Kikli (aka Ghneiwa).
Mhaisen was freed yesterday afternoon. There has been no comment from the Presidency Council. [/restrict]
