The body of Colonel Wanis Al-Sahli, a commander of the Third Infantry Brigade and a former . . .[restrict]head of the local joint security operations room, was found in the south-east Tripoli district of Ain Zara today, according to the Rada (“Deterrence”) forces. There were heavy bruise markings, indicating that he had been beaten and tortured before being murdered.
He was kidnapped three months ago by unknown gunmen.
The partly-rural suburb Ain Zara, with its many small farms, has become a major hideout for gangs of militants. [/restrict]
