Benghazi, 28 November 2015:
Two people were killed and at least 12 injured, including two children, shortly after 9 am . . .[restrict]this morning when rockets smashed into a number of buildings and vehicles in Benghazi’s Ard Zwawa Al-Bahria district. Rockets have also hit Tipolino district on the other side of the city, near Garyunis.
Zwawa was crowded with people busy shopping when the rockets hit, a local resident told the Libya Herald. There was panic, he said, as people fled the area, which close to Sabri, and shops shut.
A couple of rockets narrowly missed an elementary school, he added, which was being used for examinations for high-school students. The examinations had been long delayed and had just started today.
Locals in Zwawa have blamed the attacks on the Islamist umbrella group the Benghazi Revolutionaries’ Shoura Council, some of whose fighters are still based in Sabri. They also said that this not random shelling, that Zwawa was deliberately targeted.
There are no details as yet about the Tipolino shelling.
Airforce planes could be later heard hitting targets, thought to be in Sabri. [/restrict]
