A new interior minister in the Abdullah Thinni government in Beida was formally installed in . . .[restrict]office yesterday. Brigadier Mohamed Al-Madani Al-Fakhri is the fourth person to head the ministry since the present administration was formed last year.
Al-Fakhri takes over from Mustafa Dabbashi who attended a small ceremony in Beida yesterday to mark the event. Dabbashi, from Sabratha, is brother of Libya’s UN Ambassador Ibrahim Dabbashi,
A year ago, Thinni sacked Omar Sinki as interior minister, after Sinki had publicly attacked General Khalifa Hafter. Sinki refused to go, saying that he had been appointed by the House of Representatives and only it could sack him. Although it had appointed Hafter as commander of the Libyan armed forces, it agreed with him and upheld his appointment last March. He has tried to continue presenting himself as minister, but now appears to have given up.
In his place, Thinni briefly appointed deputy interior minister Colonel Ahmed Ali Baraka to the job, before then appointing Dabbashi. [/restrict]
