Beida, 13 October 2015:
Responding to the Bernardino Leon’s choice of prime minister and five other members of the . . .[restrict]presidency council, the National Tebu Assembly (NTA) has said that the smooth running of the country is more important than who is doing it.
The NTA also said that having Tebus in the government was not a key demand at present.
There are no Tebus among the names Leon presented, either among the six presidency council names or 17 he suggested should be ministers in the new government.
“To be given a position is not a priority for the Tebu community in Libya. Far more important is how those who’ve been suggested as officials in the Government of National Accord might run the country,” NTC chairman Adem Rami Karki told the Libya Herald.
“At this most critical moment of our nation’s history, it’s best to think about rebuilding the country rather than thinking of who is to rule and who gets what,” Karki added.
Nonetheless, he put down a marker for the new government to address his community’s grievances and demands. “Tebus have gone through a painful period in Libya’s new history and we have a long way to go in fulfilling and obtaining our legal rights” he stated. [/restrict]
