Tunis, 26 October 2015:
Authorities at Beida-based Ministry of Local Government have decided to relocate their headquarters eastward to . . .[restrict]Musaid on the Egyptian border, according to Intissar Mohamed, the spokeswoman for the ministry.
The decision is described as a reaction to “some groups’ trying to pressurise the ministry for their personal interests,” the spokeswoman added.
Among their demands, which the spokeswoman called “illegitimate”, was the opposition to some municipality officials.
Mohamed Al-Faruq Abdulsalam, the Local Government Minister, has officially requested the government approve the relocation plan, and is currently awaiting a response.
The ministry said this would be “temporary relocation” until stability in Beida was restored. [/restrict]
