Sixteen pilgrims are still missing following Thursday’s stampede during the Haj pilgrimage in Mecca, according . . .[restrict]to the Libyan Pilgrims’ Mission. The Libyan news agency LANA, however, has put the figure at 18.
At least 769 people died in the tragedy.
Four Libyan pilgrims, two men and two women, have been confirmed among the dead. They have been named as Omran Bashir, Aisha Dawi, Yousef Tawil and Zahra Shaharani. The mission had earlier denied there were any Libyan dead among the casualties.
It is not known if the missing are among the dead, the wounded, or the result of mistaken accounting. [/restrict]
