Tripoli, 6 September 2015:
Reports that Islamic State fighters (IS) attempted to assassinate an army officer in Guba yesterday have . . .[restrict]been refuted by locals.
The reality, the Libya Herald has been told, was that an argument between members of the Libyan National Army’s Omar Mukhtar operation room guarding a checkpoint near Ras Hillal degenerated into a shoot-out in which one member was killed. In revenge, his brother then allegedly shot and killed three of those involved in the incident. After that he is said to have fired an RPG at the house of the officer named as the operations room’s spokesman, Abdulkarim Sabra. [/restrict]
