Despite earlier reports that no Libyans were . . .[restrict]involved in Friday’s tragic accident at the Grand Mosque in Mecca when a crane fell on pilgrims killing at least 107 of then, it is now reported that one Libyan was among the dead.
He has been named by the Libyan Haj committee as Jumaa Musbah Allafi, aged 66, from Ajilat, west of Tripoli. He was initally among the wounded but died of his injuries yesterday. He was buried a few hours later in Mecca. It is not known when he arrived on Haj.
Six other Libyans, also believed to be from Ajilat, are also reported to have been among the more than 230 injured.
