Tripoli, 14 September 2015:
The head of the Information and Culture Authority, Omar Gawairi, has announced that all press . . .[restrict]and cultural attachés at Libyan embassies abroad have to be dismissed.
According to the Beida office of the Libyan news agency LANA, which is housed in the same building as the authority, Gawairi has sent a letter to Prime Minister Abdullah Thinni saying the current economic situation was behind the decision. LANA added that he had also written to the Foreign Ministry asking them to implement the decision.
In it not known if that will happen. Several Libyan diplomats, including press attachés, have told the Libya Herald that they have not been paid for months. Even so, they say, they will continue working. [/restrict]
