Tripoli, 7 July 2015:
A car exploded in Derna yesterday afternoon in what is seen as a revenge attack against the . . .[restrict]Islamic State (IS).
A homemade explosive, thought to be a “gelatina” bomb, was placed under the vehicle in the town centre’s Shara Al-Maghar. The car, which was burned out, is said to belong to a local supporter of IS who has disappeared.
There have been a number of similar attacks on vehicles and properties belonging to IS supporters since the group was forced out of the town last month.
Meanwhile, speaking on Nabaa TV, a spokesman for the Shoura Council of the Mujahideen in Derna, Hafed Al-Daba, confirmed that the six members of IS condemned to death for killings and bombings had been executed.
He also said that the council was getting no money from either Beida or Tripoli but was being funded by a number of individual Libyans as well as from people in Derna. [/restrict]
