Tripoli, 4 June 2015:
Angry traffic police protested In Sebha today at the killing late yesterday afternoon of one . . .[restrict]of their colleagues. Sergent Abdulmajed Mohamed Abdullah, from the traffic police, was shot unknown assailants when on duty. It is thought that the killers were after his car.
The town has seen a spate of car jackings recently, some of them deadly, with thieves having no scruples about killing owners to get hold of vehicles. In a single day last week, thieves killed two people in nine attacks during which five vehicles were stolen.
The protesting police said they would continue to do their work but demanded the authorities help them deal with the situation. [/restrict]
