Tripoli, 31 May 2015:
The body of former General National Congress member for Tarhouna, Salem Ali Hamali, who was . . .[restrict]kidnapped south of Tripoli ten days ago, is reported to have been found today between Tarhouna and Bani Walid.
Appearing to confirm this, the current member of the House of Representatives for Tarhouna, Abubakr Said Al-Tarhouni, was quoted on Buwabat Alwasat condemning the killing and offering condolences to the family who are also said to have confirmed the death.
It is said that he had been shot several times and that his body showed signs of torture.
It was claimed at the time of the kidnapping that Hamali, a former police colonel, had been detained by the Rada forces because he was a member of the 94 Group – those members of Congress who resigned in February last year on the grounds that its mandate had expired.
Despite his resignation, the continuing Congress last week strongly condemned his kidnapping, said the abductors would be held repsonsible and instructed the Attorney General to investigate the case. [/restrict]
