Tripoli, 1 May 2015:
The Egyptian government has said that despite its best efforts, some half a million . . .[restrict]of its nationals are still in Libya and insisting that they have no intention of coming home.
Badr Adel Atti, a foreign affairs spokesman in Cairo said that Egypt could not evacuate citizens who didn’t want to go. He told an Cairo radio station last night that until now only 90,000 Egyptians had taken advantage of the government programme to return home. The majority of Egyptians works as agricultural or construction labourers. Many professionals, particularly doctors and lecturers have however chosen to leave the country.
Atti reiterated that his government’s warning against all travel to Libya remained in place. [/restrict]
