Tripoli, 25 May 2015:
The Tripoli-based continuing General National Congress (GNC) adopted a budget for 2015 that will provide . . .[restrict]for the 50 Libyan dinars monthly that the GNC recently decided to give to each Libyan citizen.
In a session held yesterday, the 98 of the 100 GNC members present approved a budget of 42,982,738,000 Libyan Dinars (LD) for 2015. This comes just as the internationally recognised government in Beida announced it is adopting a budget of 44 billion LD for the year of 2015.
Almost 19 billion LD will go toward salaries. The text of the budget law expressed the GNC’s commitment to examining current minimum wage for state employees. There is also a plan to raise the minimum wage to LD 450.
The text also stated that subsidised commodity prices will be raised so that the government can instead give each Libyan citizen an additional 50 dinars in cash each month. [/restrict]
