Tripoli, 13 April 2015:
The main entrance of the Moroccan ambassador’s residence next to the embassy in Tripoli’s Ben Ashour . . .[restrict]district was attacked very early this morning. An RPG missile is believed to have been used. Although there was substantial damage no one was hurt. The Moroccan ambassador and diplomats, like those from many countries, are no longer operating out of Tripoli. They left last August.
Responsibility for the attack has been claimed by the Islamic State (IS). It also claimed yesterday’s attack outside the South Korean embassy in which two Libyans were killed.
The attack comes two days before the main negotiations in the UN-brokered dialogue process are due to resume in the Moroccan resort of Skhirat. They are being hosted by the Moroccan government.
It is not clear at this point if there is a specific link.
