Tripoli, 4 April 2015:
One man was killed and two others injured in a missile attack yesterday on Tripoli’s . . .[restrict]Mitiga Airport, which hit an airport shuttle bus.
The driver of the bus, used to transport passengers between the terminal and aircraft, was killed, and two other airport employees on board at the time were injured, according to a source from the Tripoli-based government. “These victims were 100-percent civilians,” he said, describing the attack as “uncontrolled”.
The missile was actually meant to hit a cargo plane that had just landed from Belgium, carrying medical supplies, he claimed. The fast movement of the plane, however, meant it had escaped being hit, thus avoiding a major aviation disaster.
Further airstrikes were reported near the Western Mountain town of Ghariyan today. The Tripoli-based LANA news agency said no clear target had been hit but said the bombing took place near a reservoir.
No casualties were reported in this attack on Ghariyan. [/restrict]
