Tripoli, 21 April 2015:
A two-day UNSMIL-sponsored women’s consultation began today in Tunisia, bringing together some 40 women from different . . .[restrict]parts of Libya to seek their input on the dialogue process.
Activists and representatives of women’s groups gathered to hear progress on the dialogue meetings that have been taking place in Morocco, including hearing briefings from women who have participated in the talks. Participants will also discuss the role of Libyan women in conflict resolution and peace building in Libya in the days ahead.
The women’s meeting is one of several tracks UNSMIL is sponsoring in its attempts to bring a resolution to the crisis in Libya. In addition to this meeting, it has held meetings in Algeria with political leaders and activists, as well as meetings in Brussels with municipality representatives.
