Benghazi, 18 March 2015:

The Benghazi Medical Centre (BMC) has welcomed the delivery  of seven badly-needed dialysis machines.

A hospital . . .[restrict]spokesman said technicians are installing six of the machines this week, leaving the seventh as a back-up. The hospital expects that the machines will be up and running at full capacity by early next week.

The dialysis machines are meant to be used for patients with Hepatitis C who have been forced to seek after-hours treatment at the Benghazi Children’s Hospital because of the shortage at BMC.

Patients in need of dialysis can breathe a sigh of relief with the arrival of the machines, as there has been a great deal of concern in Benghazi over the past few months that local hospitals were running out of resources and simply would not be able to care for those in need of this service without the delivery of new equipment.

Nevertheless, hospital beds continue to be in short supply at BMC, which could be another factor preventing patients from receiving the care they need. [/restrict]
