Benghazi, 4 March 2015:
A double suicide bombing at a military checkpoint near Benghazi port appears to have misfired with . . .[restrict]both bombers dying without inflicting any casualties
The attackers were in a car that approached the army position at Suq Al-Hout. It seems that the marines manning the barrier became suspicious and opened fire when the vehicle refused to halt.. One occupant leapt out and blew himself up. The other died in the vehicle.
A marine insisted afterwards that reports that two other people had been injured were wrong.
A naval officer told the Libya Herald: “We think that this attack was designed to blow a path to allow the escape of Ansar Al-Sharia fighters who are trapped in Suq Al-Hout”. [/restrict]
