Tripoli, 7 February 2015:
The departure of foreign workers continues. The Philippines’ government Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) evacuated . . .[restrict]a further 26 Filipinos last week, a day before three of their compatriots were abducted from the Mabruk oilfield.
According to the OWWA, more than 4,600 Filipinos have now left Libya. The government in Manila has urged all nationals to quit and sought to stop those on leave from returning to Libya. Last summer it was being estimated that some 13,000 Filipinos were working here, 3,000 within the health service.
The latest party to leave travelled to Tunis and then onward to Manila on a Qatar Airways flight.
