Tripoli, 16 December 2014:
Security sources in Tripoli claim that a bodyguard attached to the Minister of Martyrs and Missing in Omer Al-Hassi’s . . .[restrict]”government” shot the minister during a dispute over payments at the ministry headquarters in Nufleen. The minister, Mohamed Attiya Al-Jazwi, was not hit by any bullets in the attack.
According to the sources, the attack was the result of a financial disagreement between Jazwi and his guards who are members of the Central Shield militia. They have reportedly not been paid for some time because of the Hassi administration’s lack of funds. The guards apparently grew tired of promises of payment and attacked.
It is said that the guards stormed the ministry building and surrounded it, trapping all those inside. Though security sources said that Jazwi was not injured in the attack, Tripoli residents not linked with security claimed that he was beaten by the militia members.
The report has not been confirmed. [/restrict]
