Libya Dawn’s media office has blasted Misrata House of Representative (HoR) member Fathi Bushaga for his recent claim . . .[restrict]that the GNC-appointed Hassi government was illegitimate.
Bushaga, an elected HoR member who has boycotted the parliament’s sessions in Tobruk, told Misrata TV on 6 December, that Libya Dawn’s mandate was to purge Tripoli International Airport of the Zintan militias. Once that was accomplished, said Bushaga, their mandate was over.
He also stated, in the TV interview, that the government of Omar Al-Hassi, put in power by the General National Congress (GNC), could not be considered legitimate because it was not appointed in a legal way. The GNC lacked the quorum it needed for the vote to appoint Hassi. He blamed the GNC for the lack of international recognition for an illegally appointed government.
For its part, Libya Dawn, in its statement published yesterday, said that its work was to “correct the course of the 17th February Revolution.” It defended its current operations as a struggle to eliminate the counter-revolution currently being waged against the country.
Libya Dawn said that, contrary to statements made by Bushaga, it did not follow any foreign agendas and kept itself distant from political “tugging and conflicts”. [/restrict]
