Tripoli, 14 November 2014:
General National Congress-appointed prime minister Omar Al-Hassi has promised that, starting in 2015, his “National Salvation . . .[restrict]Governmen” will ensure that young people across Libya are given LD-120,000 interest-free, halal, loans to purchase homes so they can start a family.
Furthermore, Hassi promised an LD-15,000 interest-free loan to any couple wishing to marry and, addressing all of the families whose homes had been burned or vandalised during the conflicts across the country, he pledged that his government would “rebuild them better than before”.
“You can be confident that any law passed by the National Salvation Government will be in compliance with Islamic law,” he went on to say.
Hassi’s promises came during a speech broadcast on TV on Thursday during which the leader of the Tripoli-based “government” claimed that Khalifa Hafter and his allies were behind bombings in Tobruk.
Speaking of last week’s Supreme Court ruling that the June elections were illegal, Hassi said: “There is a conflict between right and wrong and the Court has succeeded differentiating between the two.” [/restrict]
