Tripoli, 26 October 2014:
Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni has held an emergency meeting with President of the House of . . .[restrict]Representatives (HoR) Ageela Saleh and several cabinet members to discuss the crisis displaced persons are facing in Libya.
Besides Thinni and Saleh, yesterday’s meeting included Chief of General Staff Abdul Razek Nazawra; 2nd Deputy PM and Head of Services Abdulsalam Al-Badri; 3rd Deputy PM and Head of Authorities Abdulrahman Al-Taher; Minister of Finance and Planning Kamal Al-Hassi; Minister of Social Affairs Massoud Ahmed Belqasem Sawa; Minister of Economy and Industry Muneer Ali Assr; Minister of Local Goverment Mohamed Al-Farooq Abdulsalam and a delegation from the Council of Elders and the Shoura Council of Zintan.
Thinni and the attendees discussed the current situation of displaced persons in Libya. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced by fighting in Benghazi and in western Libya. Areas where people have fled to are facing shortages of food and medical supplies.
Thinni charged his cabinet to make an official appraisal of the needs of displaced—official numbers, where they live, what they need. He also charged them to take every necessary measure to set up official assistance for them. [/restrict]
