Tripoli, 11 October 2014:
In a dramatic intervention, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon flew into Tripoli’s Mitiga airport today.
A UN spokesman tweeted that . . .[restrict]that the secretary-general has come to urge parties to push forward with the political dialogue to restore stability.
The UN is saying that after talks in Tripoli, Ban Ki-moon is flying on to Misrata and then Tobruk. He is meeting members of the House of Representatives who have boycotted the parliament’s Tobruk’s sittings.
It is not clear if he will also be meeting members of the holdout GNC and the National Salvation government of Omar Al-Hassi which they appointed. [/restrict]
