Tripoli, 8 June 2014:
The Ministry of Interior announced yesterday that it is actively . . .[restrict]recruiting for the Special Operations Force of the national police.
“We are now accepting applications to the Special Operations Force, and all applicants must meet certain requirements,” spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, Rami Kaal, told the Libya Herald.
“Applicants must be Libyan citizens between the ages of 18 and 35, over 1.6 metres tall and have no criminal record. They must also pass the medical examination,” he said.
“We urge young men to apply for this programme. We already have 3,500 who have trained or are in training,” Kaal added.
The national police force has received considerable criticism for its ineffectiveness and lack of training over the past couple of years. It is now seen to be making serious efforts to develop and build up its strength and numbers. [/restrict]
